The ancient clans were formed based upon this common perceived ancestry of an ancient hero-god. Many of these clans share a sort of lineage with common ancestors. These clans venerated their ancestors and the gods in temples, groves, and upon mountain tops. They believed that their ancestors walked among them and performed ritualized plays to venerate them, wearing masks to reenact mythological tales and legends. Sacrifice of all kinds were common, though the honor given to each ancestor varied wildly between the gods.
